Heb 7:18. Appears to imply a change in the Levitical commands?? Torah says eternal?

“The basic idea of this passage seems to be about a renewal of the priesthood. However, many get sidetracked upon the Levitical, thinking that it was the first priesthood. It seems that what the general point and thrust of this passage is getting at is that the Melchitzedekian priesthood preceded the Levitical priesthood. It is the Melchitzedekian priesthood that is being renewed. For a season the Levitical priesthood took the pre-eminence in serving at the altar of YHWH.

But now, we see that the true priesthood of Mashiach has come which is a renewal of the Melchetzedekian priest. The writer makes it plain that Yeshua is that High Priest, Melchetzedek (see chapter 5). This priesthood is renewed.

In Isaiah 66:21 we learn that those who are brought back into the land, YHWH will select from among those that return, He will select from among them, those that He wants to be Levites.

What this seems to indicate is that the ministry of Mashiach has altered the priesthood of the Levites, but it did not do away with it.

The English translators having a mindset of the Law has been done away with, did not show diligence in finding the correct rendering of these passages into the English language because the way they translated it “proved” their wrong doctrines!”

KJV 1 Kings 8:46 If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near;

47 Yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness; 48 And so return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name:

49 Then hear thou their prayer and their supplication in heaven thy dwelling place, and maintain their cause, 50 And forgive thy people that have sinned against thee, and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee, and give them compassion before them who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them:

NIV Deuteronomy 12:4 You must not worship the LORD your God in their way.

5 But you are to seek the place the LORD your God will choose from among all your tribes to put his Name there for his dwelling. To that place you must go; 6 there bring your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and special gifts, what you have vowed to give and your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks.

Deut 12:13

What examples exist?

And when he greeted them, he declared particularly what things YHWH had done among the nations by his service.

And when they heard it, they gave tehilla (praise) to YHWH, and said to him, you see, brother, how many tens of thousands there are who believe among Yahudim (Jews); and they are all zealous for the Torah:

And they are wrongly informed about you, that you teach all the Yahudim who are among the nations to forsake Moshe’s Torah, saying that they should not brit milah (circumcise) their children, neither walk after the halacha (way) of Torah.

What is this therefore? The multitudes will hear that you have come.

So do what we tell you: We have four men who have a nazarite vow on the:

Take them, and cleans yourself with them, and pay their expenses, that they may shave their heads: and then all will know that those things, of which they were informed about you, are false and nothing ; but that you yourself also have you halacha orderly, guarding all the Torah…

Then Sha’ul (Paul) took the men , and the next day cleansed himself with them and entered into Brit HaMikdash (Set-Apart place), to signify the completion of the days of their separation , UNTIL THE OFFERING SHOULD BE GIVEN FOR EVERYONE OF THEM.”

The details of what is involved in a Nazirite vow very clearly involve a burnt offering (Numbers 6:13-18).

He is to be brought to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.

¹⁴ There he is to present his offerings to the LORD:

a year-old male lamb without defect for a burnt offering,

a year-old ewe lamb without defect for a sin offering,

a ram without defect for a fellowship offering,

¹⁵ together with their grain offerings and drink offerings, and a basket of bread made without yeast– cakes made of fine flour mixed with oil, and wafers spread with oil.

¹⁶ “‘The priest is to present them before the LORD and make the sin offering and the burnt offering.

¹⁷ He is to present the basket of unleavened bread and is to sacrifice the ram as a fellowship offering to the LORD, together with its grain offering and drink offering.

¹⁸ “‘Then at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, the Nazirite must shave off the hair that he dedicated.

He is to take the hair and put it in the fire that is under the sacrifice of the fellowship offering.
